IS EQUUS Equity Fund is an investment fund that invests in domestic equities or other equity-linked financial instruments. The fund has extended investment allowances in comparison to other equity funds managed by IS Funds and can invest up to 50% in derivatives.
The fund's objective is long-term capital growth. It aims to outperform the OMXI8GI index.
IS EQUUS Equity Fund is suitable for investors who wish to invest for five years or more and can tolerate deep fluctuations in market value.
The fund invests in Icelandic equities, directly or indirectly with derivatives and focuses on companies expected to outperform the market.
As a rule, IS EQUUS Equity Fund will invest exclusively in equities, but is allowed to invest as much as 25% in other securities and can hold up to 60% in money market deposits to react to market conditions or to meet redemptions. The fund can also invest up to 40% of its total assets in unlisted equities. The fund is allowed to invest in derivatives up to a maximum 50% of its total assets and can also borrow up to 25% short term to invest in equities so the total exposure could be up to 175% in equities. At last the fund is allowed to short sell listed equities.

The taxation of fund units is governed by the Act on Income and Net Worth Tax No. 90/2003 and the Act on Withholding Tax on Capital Gains No. 94/1996. Further taxation can occur. Unit holders not residing in Iceland can apply to the Icelandic tax authorities for an exemption from such taxation. The final taxation of non-resident unit holders depends on the local tax rules in the jurisdiction where they reside for tax purposes.
Investment in derivatives
In accordance with its Investment policy, the Fund is permitted to use derivatives to lock in profits, to minimize risk or to lock in prices in Fixed Income instruments because of forseeable redemptions or to act on market changes.
